Dr. Amaya Received the 2020 Technical Achievement Award from NACE

Dr. Hisashi Amaya, who works at the Tubular Product Technology & Technical Service Division of the Kansai Works, Nippon Steel Corporation, received the 2020 Technical Achievement Award from NACE International for his outstanding contribution to the oil & gas industry for corrosion engineering and development of high-performance materials for critical applications.

Every year, NACE International presents awards to selected individuals in recognition for technical achievements having a significant contribution to the application of corrosion control throughout the industrial landscape. This year, four individuals, including Dr. Amaya, were awarded.

Nippon Steel Corporation (former Nippon Steel and Sumitomo Metal Corp. or Sumitomo Metal Industries) has a long history as a company as well as for its corrosion experts of receiving NACE awards for extraordinary efforts in the development of corrosion resistance materials, and support to the oil & gas industry.

Dr. Peter Elliott, NACE Fellow and NACE Awards Committee Chair stated “It is an honor to recognize extraordinary efforts and achievements of our members like Dr. Hisashi Amaya who have done so much to advance the association and the industry”.

The award ceremony in Houston was canceled due to COVID-19 concerns but Dr. Amaya received a commemorative shield from NACE.
