<h2>Dr. Hisashi Amaya, who works at the Tubular Product Technology &amp; Technical Service Division of the Kansai Works, Nippon Steel Corporation, received the 2020 Technical Achievement Award from NACE International for his outstanding contribution to the oil &amp; gas industry for corrosion engineering and development of high-performance materials for critical applications.</h2>

Every year, NACE International presents awards to selected individuals in recognition for technical achievements having a significant contribution to the application of corrosion control throughout the industrial landscape. This year, four individuals, including Dr. Amaya, were awarded.

Nippon Steel Corporation (former Nippon Steel and Sumitomo Metal Corp. or Sumitomo Metal Industries) has a long history as a company as well as for its corrosion experts of receiving NACE awards for extraordinary efforts in the development of corrosion resistance materials, and support to the oil &amp; gas industry.

Dr. Peter Elliott, NACE Fellow and NACE Awards Committee Chair stated “It is an honor to recognize extraordinary efforts and achievements of our members like Dr. Hisashi Amaya who have done so much to advance the association and the industry”.

The award ceremony in Houston was canceled due to COVID-19 concerns but Dr. Amaya received a commemorative shield from NACE.

<h2>Nippon Steel has developped proprietary connection for Large OD ERW Casing named NSMAXTM-GR.</h2>

NSMAXTM-GR is available on 18", 18-5/8" and 20" OD. This new connection provides Faster &amp; Stable Running (lower risk of cress-threading and galling) and Reliable Seal Performance (100% VME Liquid + 2,000 psi Gas) through improved thread design.

NSMAXTM-GR has been already adopted by Norwegian customer and run successfully at the North Sea's offshore project.

 

NT-95DE is a proprietary Carbon Steel HF-ERW (High-Frequency Electric Resistance Welded) OCTG material.

This material provides superior impact toughness properties with YS ranging from 95 to 110 ksi and with a guaranteed min. wall thickness 92.5% of specified nominal WT. The high dimensional control &amp; accuracy of wall thickness and outside diameter provide better drift-ability, internal yield pressure (burst) and collapse resistance.

NT-95DE is a cost effective alternative to API 5CT / ISO 11960 R95 seamless material.

Nippon Steel Corporation and Sumitomo Corporation jointly received the Equipment Supplier of the Year Award from Shell’s wells business (Shell). Nippon Steel and Sumitomo Corporation received the award for the third time, following their award received in 2015 and 2019.</h2>

The Award is presented to the suppliers that have significantly contributed to Shell. The Award recognized the continued superior performance by Nippon Steel and Sumitomo Corporation in each of the evaluation items, including Nippon Steel’s development capabilities of high-quality products, over 90% achievement in on-time delivery, cost reduction in the entire supply chain, and accomplishment of more than 20 joint-research projects.

Nippon Steel and Sumitomo Corporation have maintained relationships regarding oil country tubular goods (OCTG) for more than 40 years with Shell and are currently under a 10-year contract period up to 2025. Both Nippon Steel and Sumitomo Corporation have contributed to Shell by proposing total solutions which include stable supply of high-end OCTGs, development of new products which match specific needs of Shell, and solid delivery service by use of Supply Chain Management (SCM).
